When we purchased the boat, she was registered with the US Coast Guard as “Sadie Girl”. This wasn’t a show stopper for us and although we didn’t love the name, we could live with it.
That is, until we tried to transfer the registration only to find that two Aussies, buying a US registered boat in Grenada was not going to work! We would have to register the boat with Australia.
Cue, one night, lots of rum, and a chatGPT assisted brainstorming session for boat names. Despite all the hilarious options that came up, we decided to go with the name we thought of months and months ago:
Perspective.
Why are we doing this trip? Because we wanted to get a fresh perspective on life and experience something other than what we both knew. We had thought that moving to the USA would be a life changing adjustment, and, although it had its challenges, in the end it felt like…. normal life. Just far away from our Aussie friends and family.
We were wanting something different. Something to really push us out of our comfort zone and challenge us to learn new skills and see life from a new angle.
And so far, I can say that this is definitely the case!
Anyway, after months of paperwork and processes… de-registering in US, registering with Australia, getting a provisional registration and then sending through the proof of rename – we are now, finally, officially, registered as Perspective. And here she is, showing off her new name 🙂

Perspective is a true euonym for this boat as the name can only be seen in full on exactly the right angle past the davits, you might even say… from the right perspective. 😝
