26th July 2025 – Grenada
For those who are wondering what our everyday life is like at the momet (eg. the truly curious or bored) – I filmed our daily drive from our AirBnb to the Boat Yard.
Although it’s only a 20minute commute it gives a brief insight into the colourful houses in the suburbs, along Grenada’s stunning main coastal road, across the eastern part of the island and finally up to the boat yard.
We do this trek daily—generally more than once when the hardware store beckons. And every trip feels a little different, with just a little bit different chaos each time.
Warning: this is not a very professional video… there’s a few bits that might be a bit motion sickness inducing!
The Music!
Grenada’s Carnival, also known as Spice Mas, is coming up in the second week of August. It is a huge festival around here. In the lead up to the event there is rounds of music competitions and Soca is booming everywhere we go.

Soca is the heartbeat carnival – it blends calypso, soul and funk – fast paced, energetic and always played *really loud!* It’s also hectic – and twenty minutes of Soca would be intense – so I backed the video with three popular Calypso style tunes. The last song in the video (at 15:00) is a Soca tune haha.
Enjoy the beats 🙂
0:00 – Tallpree – Old Woman Alone
A Grenadian Calypso style favourite.
4:50 – Flying Cloud – Raise Yuh Hand
A Carnival-goer crowd pleaser.
11:43 – Bunji Garlin – Celebration
A feel-good calypso tune perfect for Carnival vibes.
15:01 – Mr Killa x Patrice Roberts – Shake Down Party (La La Riddim)
A bit of Soca style – this is probably the main music we hear – hectic!
